Bonsai no Takumi School

School
Bonsai no Takumi
Bonsai no Takumi began its journey as a bonsai school in January 2020. Created to share bonsai techniques and train the next generation of bonsai enthusiasts and professionals around the world.
Our school is based on a training program that allows students to learn skills directly from masters at a historic bonsai production site, Takamatsu, Kagawa, characterized by the use of “shohaku” (evergreen trees such as black pine Japanese, Chinese juniper and Japanese white pine).
The learning program is designed for beginners, advanced level and professionals alike. Beginning students do not require prior knowledge to come to school. If you are an advanced or intermediate level bonsai enthusiast, this program will help you improve your skills. If you are already a bonsai professional, we will help you in your continued training.

¿Qué es "Bonsai Takamatsu"?

¿Qué es
"Bonsai Takamatsu"?
Kinashi and Kokubunji districts in Kagawa are the largest pine bonsai production sites in Japan. The bonsai that grow in these districts are called Takamatsu bonsai.
The long history of Takamatsuse bonsai dates back to the late Edo period, when lovely pine trees that grew naturally in mountains were transplanted into pots, creating bonsai trees. Takamatsu’s warm semi-arid climate and well-drained soil are suitable for pine cultivation. Takamatsu bonsais are highly appreciated in the market, they are strong and their roots are difficult to rot.
There are around 60 bonsai gardens in Kinashi and Kokubunji, ranging from producers who grow trees by grafting them, to artisans who elevate bonsai to an art. Bonsai in Takamatsu is so ingrained in people’s lives that you can see bonsai cultivation fields and the houses of the local inhabitants mixed together.
